With powers delegated by Synod and by Mission & Strategy and in keeping with policy and strategy they have agreed:
• To make decisions and take action relating to financial and property matters
• To prepare a Budget for submission to Mission and Strategy
• To oversee spending that exceeds the Budget and to authorise spending over agreed limits
• To instruct Trustees accordingly
Groups acting in association with Finance and Property
a) Budget
An ad hoc consultative group, convened by the Treasurer, comprising Synod Officers, Regeneration Development Officer and the Finance Officer to prepare budgets
b) Investment Advisors
An informal group including the Trust Secretary and Finance Officer, convened by the Treasurer, to review annually investment matters
c) Listed Buildings Advisory Committee
A committee required by statute in order that the United Reformed Church retains ‘ecclesiastical exemption’, to consider proposals by churches for revision to listed buildings; according to stated criteria to adjudicate whether revisions are acceptable
d) Ministry & Mission Fund
To determine, monitor and act on the contribution to be provided to the Fund by each church in the Synod and to liaise where appropriate with Ministries, regarding matters of deployment, etc
e) Property Advisors
To assist churches in their stewardship of property by making available expertise in the fields of architecture, valuation, land surveying, building surveying and town planning
f) United Reformed Church (Southern Province) Trust Limited
Executive Council
The Trust is a company limited by guarantee, with a mandate set out in the Memorandum and Articles. It has an Executive Council to fulfil such tasks as may be required in accordance with the Memorandum and Articles, and in pursuit of policy and strategy as defined by Synod and Mission & Strategy
